What is PHA?
PHA or polyhydroxyalkanoates are linear polyesters produced in nature by fermentation of sugar or oil. They are an organic material and have plastic-like qualities.
What can PHA be used for?
PHA can be used in applications where traditional petroleum plastics, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or polystyrene (PS) are used. PHA is a biobased, biodegradable, compostable and recyclable polymer that has demonstrated equivalent or superior properties when compared to petrol based plastics.
What are RWDC Technologies and Products?
RWDC has developed a water-based PHA emulsion and a range of thermoplastic biopolymers which can be used in the manufacture of coated paper products, single use food service articles and a range of packaging materials.
Where can I buy PHA products?
RWDC does not sell PHA-based products to end-consumers, however major packaging manufacturers are conducting product trials with RWDC proprietary PHA technologies. We will announce partnerships and product availability when they are ready.
