PHA PRODUCTION – RWDC has developed the most scalable, efficient, and cost-effective process for producing a broad range of PHA polymers for a variety of applications.


RESIN FORMULATION – We work with our consumer product manufacturing partners to develop a custom Solon resin that will be a drop-in replacement in the manufacturing process.

Rapid Innovation

in Biopolymer Technology

RWDC was founded in 2015 on the belief that the accepted solution of “Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle” wasn’t going far enough to alter the alarming growth trajectory of plastic waste. To meet the urgency of society’s addiction to plastic, we developed a “Replace” solution using Solon that manufacturers can implement without changing existing production processes and infrastructure.


And we have moved quickly.


In the polymer development sector of the material sciences industry, it takes roughly 20 years to introduce a new commercial product to the world. Over that period, development costs for new polymers usually push beyond the $1 billion range. In comparison, we are in year eight of our development cycle – which includes delays caused by a global pandemic – and our expenses to date have been less than $200 million. We believe it is likely our Solon will be available to the market in under 10 years and for less than $500 million – effectively cutting time and cost by 50%.

RWDC combines mastery of biopolymer properties and applications with the engineering know-how needed to reach cost-effective industrial scale. Our PHA resin production modules are designed for efficient global deployment, meeting customers where they are. Solon’s properties allow it to easily replace synthetic polymers in existing production processes, giving manufacturers the ability to use current infrastructure and production lines to create safer products.
